What was said at the July Assembly? This was…
When I asked what resources would most help us work towards the vision MK: a City Alive to God, you came up with this response – the bigger the word the more frequently it was being said. Once an allowance is made for very local effects (one or two churches concerned about clergy appointments) the top items were buildings, children and young people and a collection around lay training/discipleship/leadership. There is clearly a great deal to be explored in each of these areas and we will certainly want to be thinking about them centrally, but it is also (more!) important that they get talked about in churches and we begin to find ways of addressing them practically. We are already reviewing our buildings as a practical step to get an accurate picture of the space that we have and what might be needed. Please make space in your agendas, as we will in ours.
coMPass continues to play an important part in our training programme, so look out for the “autumn leaf” coloured leaflets (or click here). This autumn we are running three courses, Understanding Faith, Mission Shaped Intro and Prayer. Please do sign up (in good time!), the more the merrier, and remember that we do have bursaries available.
P.S. I’m thrilled that our priority of praying for the city is being picked up with a monthly event at Christ the Cornerstone, the Call, starting on September 24th from 7-9pm. Be there!
