At our last Assembly at Christ the Cornerstone we invited you to think about the priorities of your church, how they related to the vision MK: a City Alive to God and how we might gain wider ownership of both vision and priorities. At our next Assembly, we want to take that a stage further and start to ask questions about the resources we need to become truly effective in working towards our vision and the priorities we share. Thinking about those kinds of questions can really help sharpen up what is important to us as we play our part with God in bringing the city alive to God.
As the city is itself in a major transition with the development of the Oxford-Cambridge arc, the large-scale housing expansions and all that goes with what will be a ‘step change’ in the life of the city, now is a key moment to start thinking how the church needs to respond. Clearly, the wider church is beginning to wake up to the major changes going on here and is contemplating how to respond: notably, the Bishop of Oxford is considering Milton Keynes as a possible priority for his diocese over the next few years. Undoubtedly, resourcing will be a major question for the wider church: it needs to be a big question for us too.
This Assembly will be our AGM, so there will be a small amount of business to conduct and, in particular, this is the occasion at which we elect new Trustees. If you are considering standing as a Trustee and want to know more, please be in touch with Alison Drury or myself and download a nomination form from the website.
Do make sure you have the Assembly in your diary and we look forward to seeing you there so that together we can shape the future and see MK: a City Alive to God.
